Narnia's Dawn Treader Opens to a Weak Weekend

Yes, the latest in the Chronicles of Narnia saga, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, treaded shallow waters this weekend as it grossed just over $24 million; good enough for first place, but not good enough considering the franchise. Dawn Treader is the lowest opening for a Narnia film, where 2005's The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe took in $65.6 million, and 2008's Prince Caspian took in $55 million. The bright side is that overseas, Dawn Treader already took in $80 million making for a $105 worldwide million total, and it's budget is $155 million compared to Prince Caspian's $225 million.

The Tourist, despite mega stars Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, couldn't pull in higher than $17 million. Probably mostly due to the terrible reviews this movie is getting.

Meanwhile, Darren Aronofksy's Black Swan managed to break the top ten this weekend.
