X-Men: First Class Finishes in First

Despite opening in the top spot this weekend, the 5th in the franchise, X-Men: First Class' $56 million fell short of the last three X-Men openings (X-Men Origins: Wolverine: $85.1; X-Men: The Last Stand:$102.8 million; X2: X-Men United: $85.6 million). Probably due to franchise burn out, comparably to how Pirates 4 is doing in the States(amongst the rest of the series). To X-Men First Class' credit, it is sort of a reboot of the franchise and it is getting good reviews, much better than Wolverine and The Last Stand, and definitely better than Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

Anyways we'll see if good word of mouth can provide some legs during this heavy Summer line-up.

And as for legs (or no legs), The Hangover 2 dropped over 60% from its record weekend as the hype is starting to fade. Also, somewhat surprisingly, is Kung Fu Panda 2's 50% drop from last weekend, proving that even good reviewed movies may not have strong legs this Summer.
