The Expendables 2 Takes Top Spot at Box Office

Despite debuting lower than expectations, The Expendables 2 easily took the top spot at the box office this weekend with about $28.8 million.  By comparison, The Expendables debuted with $34.8 million.

ParaNorman, for all it's last minute hype and positive reviews, it also debut with a soft landing, ($14 million).  By comparison, Coraline debuted with $16.8 million.

In other news, The Dark Knight Rises has finally passed the $400 million mark domestically as it inches closer to the $1 billion mark worldwide.

Looks like the mid-to-late August lull is starting.
