10 Biggest Box Office Flops of 2012

So it's getting harder and harder for movies to flop since the rise in Foreign box office figures. Still, there are a few movies where that luxury doesn't help too much... and thus, they become disappointments. Usually, a movie studio and distributor well get back around 50 - 60% of the total gross of the movie, while the rest will go to the exhibitors. So, most movies grosses need to at least double the budget in order for a real profit. So for something like John Carter, Disney probably expected a gross north of $500 million worldwide, which in reality, fell way short of that..  This is also not taking into consideration marketing and advertising costs.
