Oblivion Takes the Spot at the Box Office

Tom Cruise's Sci-Fi flick, Oblivion managed to grab a solid $38.2 million for the top spot this weekend at the box office.  It's one of Mr. Cruise's biggest openings ever (of course, behind the Mission: Impossible franchise and War of the Worlds).  Overseas, it already has grossed $112 million since it debuted a week ago.  It looks, from an early standpoint, Oblivion will be a success, even if it were to drop off significantly in the domestic market over the next few weeks.

The Indie-ish flick The Place Beyond the Pines, starring Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper managed to climb up to 6th place (10th last weekend) this weekend as it opened in wider release.
