Fast and Furious 6 Holds on to Second Weekend as After Earth Disappoints

In somewhat of a surprise move, Fast and Furious 6 easily took the top spot ($34.5 million) at the box office this weekend. Even with a big 65% drop from last weekend.  Will Smith's big budget Sci-Fi flick, After Earth, failed to deliver a solid audience as it made $27 million to debut in 3rd place... Yes, 3rd place for a Will Smith Summer movie... ouch!

Second place was taken by Now You See Me ($28.1 million), a movie that had much less hype and marketing than After Earth.  After Earth should have placed in the top spot, but the terrible reviews (12% tomatometer) most likely was the nail in the coffin for many movie goers (adding to the fact that most people regard director M. Night Shyamalan's career peaking a over decade ago).

Anyways, for Fast and Furious 6, it took in another $75 million overseas and now has a worldwide total of $480.6 million.
