The Purge Surprises Box Office Over The Internship

The Ethan Hawke Thriller, The Purge, easily dominated the box office this weekend ($36.4 million).  It is the second weekend in a row where the much smaller marketed movie (i.e. last weekend's Now You See Me vs a Will Smith Summer flick), beat the weekend's front runner.  June has become a rather unpredictable month so far.  Though, it's a pretty good bet that next weekend's Man of Steel will reign supreme (So, Im gonna root for This Is The End to pull off an upset).

Anyways, the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson Wedding Crashers marketed vehicle, The Internship, slightly disappointed as it debuted in fourth place ($18.1 million).  Which, I am assuming many people are holding off for a crazier comedy like This Is The End to debut.

Star Trek Into Darkness passed the $200 million mark this weekend, and as well did Fast and Furious 6.  After Earth slipped about 60% from last weekends disappointing debut... and will probably become Will Smith's most underwhelming Summer blockbuster (Well, I don't think this will be considered a blockbuster).
