Minions Crushes Box Office with $115 million Debut

The prequel to the Despicable Me franchise, Minions, scored the second highest grossing animated debut ($115.2 million) behind Shrek the Third's $122.5 million.  It has grossed another $124.3 million overseas this weekend and now has a grand global total of $395.7 million.  With Blackhat, Seventh Son, and Ted 2 flopping, Universal has easily made it up with Furious 7, Jurassic World, and now Minions. Can they hold off the rest of the year to remain the highest grossing studio of 2015?
