Ride Along 2 Dethrones Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the Top Spot

Well, the record breaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($25.1 million) managed to only stay at the top of the box office for four weekends in a row as newcomer, Ride Along 2 ($34 million), rolled right in.  However, despite winning the box office, Ride Along 2's opening weekend is significantly lower than it's predecessor ($41.5 million).

The Revenant held on to a strong second place finish ($29.5 million), most likely due to it's Golden Globe wins and Oscar buzz.

The Michael Bay movie, 13 Hours, managed a decent 4th place ($16 million), though it's a pretty low opening for a Michael Bay movie... with only The Island ($12.4 million) and his first movie Bad Boys ($15.5 million) being lower.

Now onto Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which managed third place this weekend.  However, it has now surpassed $1 billion internationally, with a worldwide total of $1.86 billion... inching closer to Titanic's $2.19 billion.  From the looks of it, Avatar's record (standing at $2.79 million), is still relatively safe... though, I don't want to speak too soon.
