Don't Breathe Easily Tops Box Office with $15.7 Million

Don't Breathe ($15.7 million) easily took the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row. In fact, newcomers The Light Between Oceans ($5 million) and Morgan ($2 million) failed upon arrival... by a far margin.  The later debuted in 17th place... ouch!  This weekend is the 2nd lowest weekend of 2016, just behind a weekend in early February.

Don't Breathe is just one of the many Horror movies this Summer to do extremely well.  While many of the big budget tent pole movies underwhelmed financially (Alice Through the Looking Glass, Ice Age: Collision Course, Independence Day: Resurgence, Ghostbusters, Now You See Me 2, Warcraft, The BFG, Star Trek Beyond... etc), almost every horror flick released this Summer (The Conjuring 2, Light's Out, The Shallows, The Purge: Election Year and Don't Breathe) did extremely well against it's budget. So, I guess they'll keep cranking those out.
