Boo! Madea Scares Away Inferno with $16.7 Million

In a surprising move, Boo! A Madea Halloween held on to the top spot for the second weekend in a row ($16.7 million).  Which means that the Ron Howard and Tom Hanks flick based off a Dan Brown novel, Inferno, came up very short at the box office ($15 million). To put that into perspective, previous films in the franchise, The Da Vinci Code debuted to $77.1 million in 2006 and Angels & Demons debuted to $46.2 million in 2009.  Despite it's lackluster debut in the States, Inferno has a sizable audience overseas, where it's already grossed $132 million in a few weeks.
