Girl on the Train Rides into First Place with $24.7 Million

Hurricane Matthew most likely thwarted many moviegoers away from the box office in the southeastern States this weekend. Despite that, there is still one clear winner this weekend... the crime drama The Girl on the Train.  It took the top spot with $24.7 million.

The Birth of a Nation came in a distant 6th with $7.1 million.

In other news, Finding Dory became the 3rd film this year (and 3rd Disney film this year) to pass the $1 billion mark. This makes the top four films of the year all Disney: Captain America: Civil War ($1.15 billion), Zootopia ($1.02 billion), Finding Dory ($1 billion), The Jungle Book ($966 million).
