The final chapter in the Hugh Jackman Wolverine saga, Logan, easily clawed it's way to the top spot this weekend ($85.3 million). Thus proving, along with Deadpool, that R rated comic book movies can do well. I think it's just an example of giving the right filmmakers carte blanche to make the stories they want to make (I said the right filmmakers). If this number holds up, Logan would be the highest debuting Wolverine film... Though, not by much, as X-Men Origins: Wolverine made $85.06 million in it's debut. Overseas, Logan made a big $152.5 million for a global bow of $237.8 million.
In other news, the horror flick Get Out, held on strong, only slipping about 20% (which is unheard of for a horror film), to $26.1 million... It has already made $76 million.
In somewhat surprising news, The Shack, opened to $16.1 million... which was much higher than expectations.
