Fate of the Furious Tops Third Weekend with $19.4 million

Due to a rather soft batch of newcomers, the 8th installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise, The Fate of the Furious, easily topped the box office for 3 weekends in a row with $19.4 million. Though it only has grossed $192.8 million domestically (a bit behind it's predecessor's $294.5 million take, at the same point a couple years ago)... it's overseas gross climbed to $867.8 million for a worldwide total of $1.06 billion.  It has already made $361 million in China alone.

In surprising news domestically, the weekends biggest marketed film, The Circle ($9.3 million), debuted behind smaller films How to Be a Latin Lover ($12 million) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ($10.1 million).  In fact, the total amount of screens How to Be a Latin Lover and Baahubali 2 were playing on equal to less than half of the 3 thousand plus screens of The Circle.

In other news, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 debuted overseas to the tune of $101 million, a week ahead of it's domestic release.
