Cars 3 Crosses the Line in First with $53.6 million

The Pixar film, Cars 3, easily crossed the finish line for first place at the box office with $53.6 million.  Though a good start, it's opening is a lot less then the other two of the franchise (Cars' $60.1 million from 2006 and Cars 2's $66.1 million from 2011).  So we'll see how this stacks up in the long run.

Wonder Woman continues to hold on strong at the box office as it only dropped 30 percent from last weekend to $40.8 million. It has so far made $274.6 million domestically and $571.8 million worldwide.

In a surprise news, the Tupac biopic, All Eyez on Me, placed in a strong third place with $27.1 million.

Also, Tom Cruise's The Mummy continues to falter domestically as it slips to fourth place with $13.9 million.  The silver lining, is that it's foreign total is huge, already grossing $239.1 million for a worldwide total of $295.6 million.  I'm sure Universal will still move forward with their somewhat fumbled monster universe start.
