Black Panther defeats Tomb Raider with $27 Million

Yes, this marks the fifth consecutive weekend that Black Panther has topped the box office.  It is the only movie since Avatar to make that claim.  Domestically, Black Panther ($605.4 million) is closing in on The Avengers ($623 million) to become this biggest comic book movie. Worldwide, Black Panther has grossed $1.128 billion.

As for Tomb Raider, it fell a bit short ($23.5 million) of expectations.  On the plus side, this $94 million pic already grossed $102 million overseas for an early worldwide total of $126 million.

In a surprise this weekend, the faith-based movie, I Can Only Imagine, snuck into the top 3 with $17.1 million.  This is good news for Roadside Attractions, since it reportedly cost only $7 million.
