Avengers: Infinity War Obliterates the Box Office with $250 million debut

An obliterating weekend it was as Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War's record breaking $250 million domestic debut, bested previous record holder Star Wars: A Force Awaken's $248 million set 3 years ago.  It has also broke The Fate of the Furious' $541.9 million global opening with a record $630 million worldwide.  Yes, it's breaking a lot of records. It also apparently had the biggest Saturday of all time ($83 million) domestically too.

Over the next couple weeks, there isn't much competition for the film... so it should remain on top for quite awhile.

A Quiet Place Retakes Box Office with $22 million

The John Krasinski directed monster horror flick, A Quiet Place, retook the top spot at the box office this weekend with $22 million.  So far, the breakout hit film, has grossed $132.4 million domestically and $75 million overseas.  It has a worldwide total of $207.2 million.

Last weekend's number one, Rampage, slipped to 2nd place with $21 million, where it has $66 million domestically.  Overseas, it's faring a lot better with $216 million, helping it's worldwide total grow to $283 million.

Newcomers, I Feel Pretty ($16.2 million) and Super Troopers 2 ($14.7 million) settled for 3rd and 4th place... both of which did slightly ahead of predictions.

Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One continues to do well (more so overseas), as it's worldwide total crossed the $500 million mark to $521.6 million.  It's domestic take stands at $126.2 million, while it's foreign take is $395.4 million.

Rampage Edges out A Quiet Place with $34.5 million Weekend

The Rock's star power helped Rampage ($34.5 million) crush through it's mediocre reviews and edge out A Quiet Place ($32.6 million).   Overseas, The Rock's star power is even stronger, as Rampage grossed $114.1 million and $55 million from China alone.  It has an early worldwide total of $148.6 million.

Speaking of (oh, use our soft voices so they don't hear us) A Quiet Place, it held strong in second place with $32.6 million. Only a 35% drop from last weekend, which is amazing for a horror/thriller flick.  It sits a tick under $100 million domestically.

Despite having major competition from A Quiet Place, Blumhouse's Truth or Dare surprisingly squeaked out a hefty $19.1 million. With it's reported budget sitting at $3.5 million, this movie is already hugely successful.

A Quiet Place Crushes Box Office with $50 Million Debut

Word of mouth quickly propelled the horror/thriller flick, A Quiet Place (a movie that no one was really paying attention to a week ago), to the tune of $50 million. From actor-turned-director John Krasinski, this $17 million budgeted movie is already a success and will most likely have strong legs in the coming weeks as the buzz spreads.

Spielberg's Ready Player One dropped to second with $25.1 million.  At 40%, it wasn't as much of a drop as some were expecting. Overseas, it's doing even better as it already made $294 million... $161 million in China alone. Worldwide, it stands at $391.3 million.

The comedy Blockers, finished in a strong 3rd place with $21.4 million. Which already matches it's $21 million budget.

In other news, Black Panther ($665.4 million) surpassed Titanic ($659.4), to become the 3rd highest grossing movie ever domestically.  Worldwide, it's $1.3 billion is at the heals of Star Wars: The Last Jedi's $1.334 billion for 9th place.

Ready Player One Top Box Office with $41 Million

Steven Spielberg's latest flick, based on the popular novel of the same name, Ready Player One, easily topped the box office this weekend with $41.2 million. This marks Spielberg's biggest opening since 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull ($100.1 million). Don't get your hopes up yet, as it's budget reportedly cost $175 million. With that said, it opened pretty well overseas, with $128 million... $61.7 million coming from China.  Worldwide, Ready Player One has grossed $181.2 million, so far.

Tyler Perry's Acrimony came in second this weekend with $17.1 million.
