Crazy Rich Asians Hold on to Box Office with $25 million.

Crazy Rich Asians easily held on to the top spot at the box office this weekend with $25 million.  Down less than 6% from last weekend, it is one of the strongest holds for a film debuting in the top spot this year. Crazy Rich Asians has so far grossed, $77 million domestically.  It's just starting to rolling out overseas.

As for the newcomers, The Happytime Murders and A.X.L., well, they made $10 million and $2.4 million respectively. Which isn't good. The laters film studio, Global Road, may go out of business.

Overseas, Ant-Man and the Wasp, put up some big numbers ($71.2 million) as it debuted in China ($68 million). It now has a global haul of $544 million, besting the first Ant-Man's $519 million.

Crazy Rich Asians Top Box Office with $25.2 million

The Rom-Com Crazy Rich Asians ($25.2 million) edged out The Meg ($21.2 million) for the top spot at the box office this weekend.  This is the first Romantic Comedy since 2015's Trainwreck to debut to over $20 million (if you noticed, the Rom-Com genre has been fading away the past few years).

As for the other newcomers, Mark Wahlberg's Mile 22, and the coming-of-age journey pic, Alpha, both underperformed with $13.6 million and $10.5 million for 3rd place and 5th place.
