Halloween Scares Up $77.5 Million at the Box Office

Michael Myers is back! The Halloween franchise grossed $77.5 million at the box office this weekend, which makes it the second highest debut for an R rated horror film (behind It's $123.4 million) and also the second highest opening for the month of October (behind Venom's $80 million). Considering the Blumhouse pic cost only $10 million to produce, it's definitely a success.

A Star Is Born ($19.3 million) moves ahead of Venom ($18.1 million) this weekend for the first time. Venom is still doing well overseas as it brought in another $33.3 million for a overseas total of $290.7 million. It's worldwide total now stands at $461.8 million.
